I have had the pleasure of capturing quite a few weddings at the Elmwood Park Zoo over the years. I have come away from every single one of them with a smile on my face and a billion smiles on my camera. From the classic school zoo feel (featured in one of my favorite kids books Maniac Magee), to the red panda exhibit and the carousel, the Elmwood Park Zoo creates and atmosphere that is both relaxing and fun for guests. Here are 5 reasons I think you should consider the Elmwood Park Zoo for your wedding.
- Giraffes! I don’t think I have ever seen an event at a wedding that can make a 74 year old smile as big as a 4 year old! Worth every penny.
- Guests get to roam and enjoy the grounds! At most weddings, guests are moved around like cattle and the spot light is only on the bride and groom. At the zoo, the bride and groom are still the main event but your guests get to wander and explore the zoo. It is really neat and relaxing for quests.
- Wonderful staff! The zoo’s staff is so attentive and helpful. They really give their all to make sure the packed-with-families zoo atmosphere flips to a lovely backdrop for your close friends and family to celebrate an intimate wedding.
- The food! The caterer does a really great job. Every time I shoot at the zoo, I know my tummy will be happy too.
- It is unique. It isn’t a barn, a wedding factory ballroom or that place in town everyone gets married. Your guests have been to a lot of weddings, they probably haven’t been to too many zoo weddings!
